FLATcomp Technology
FLATcomp is Würth Elektronik‘s brand name for printed flat components based on conductive polymers
The special advantage of this technology is its integration of components on or in the circuit board (embedded components). Würth Elektronik FLATcomp Systems in Pforzheim develops and produces customized system solutions based on conductive polymers. The company has its own laboratory for developing and manufacturing application-specific conductive polymers.
Polymer pastes
Selection of the conductive paste, extensive experience in its processing, and the necessary circuit design are essential for the quality and functioning of the polymer print.
Our paste systems have chemical and physical properties that are ideally matched to the circuit board.
Manufacturing process
The technique we use is related to the well-known process of ceramic thick-film technology. While the classic thick-film technology is based on ceramic pastes, FLATcomp uses conductive polymer pastes.
To produce specific functions, up to four different prints are applied to a circuit board. Different prints can produce pressure contacts, switches, potentiometers and resistor networks.
To print resistors with the necessary precision, a reproducible process with a very close tolerance is essential. This technique is backed up by state-of-the-art equipment and certified quality management.
Würth Elektronik FLATcomp Systems uses two fully automated production lines and additional small-series and prototype lines for this process.
A variety of testing devices provide quality assurance and they enable process monitoring and even operating life simulations.
